Carbondale in top 100 for most dangerous cities

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS)- Carbondale ranks as the 95th most dangerous city in the U.S. according to NeighborhoodScout.com.

The website says it bases it's rankings off of mathematical algorithms and crime data from the FBI to rank the cities.

People that live in the city, have mixed feelings about the results.

"I can't believe it," said Lloyd Sarver.

Sarver has grown up in the area.

"I've always felt safe here," said Sarver. "Carbondale is actually a pretty low key little town."

But not everyone agrees.

"For people to think there isn't crime here, they're not taking the right approach to it," said Jim Eagleston. "Carbondale does have crime, it's like any city in the United States."

He says he knows about that crime first hand, as a victim.
