Brehm Preparatory School to commemorate 9/11
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Brehm Preparatory School students have been engage in instructional lessons and activities teaching tolerance and promoting peace in the days leading up to the 9/11 anniversary.
The school says students have been selling ribbons adorned with messages of peace including, "Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me." The money raised will be donated to a charity of the students' choice.
The events will culminate on Friday, September 9, in an afternoon observance of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11. It will start at 3 p.m. in the middle of the campus near the waterfall. The school says music promoting peace will be played, and Dr. Richard Collins, Brehm's executive director, will speak, followed by two students reading a poem about peace. They say after a moment of silence, participants can enjoy music and mingle.
The public is invited to attend the observance, which is scheduled to last from 3 p.m.
