Murphysboro business partners with Food Bank to provide personal hygiene products, household items | Arts & Culture
MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - A Murphysboro business announced they are partnering with the Murphysboro Food Bank to provide personal hygiene and household items during the Hometown Christmas Craft Show on December 8.
A new focus for the Prize Raffle at the craft show came about after One Hot Cookie President/CEO Sarah Lavender-Brashear met with the director of the Murphysboro Food Bank to discuss the needs in the community. While she was there a family came into the food bank and they were elated that shampoo was available. The director explained that all of their monetary donations and their funding provides for the purchase of food items but families have nowhere to obtain items such as toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, detergent, cleaning supplies and other personal hygiene items.
The Prize Raffle will be during the Murphysboro Hometown Christmas Craft Show on Dec. 8 at the Murphysboro Youth and Recreation Center, 1818 Walnut.
The Murphysboro Hometown Christmas Craft Show has more than 40 vendors from true artisans and crafters of homemade goods to gifts and homemade cookies and treats. Organizers say an additional site has been added to meet the overwhelming response. The Murphysboro Christian Academy, 805 North 16th Street, will house the overflow where a cookie walk will also be available.
The Food Bank Raffle will take place at both sites where drawings for prizes donated by the vendors will be given away every 30 minutes. Raffle tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, or 20 for $10 but visitors can get free raffle tickets by bringing in personal hygiene items or household products. All money raised will be used to purchase additional personal and household supplies for the food bank.
