"Boys Town" screening at The Historic Liberty Theater

"Boys Town" screening at The Historic Liberty Theater

The classic  movie “BOYS TOWN”  starring Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney will be on the big screen at The Historic Liberty Theater in downtown Murphysboro Saturday, March 2, at 7 p.m.

It’s the story of a Catholic Priest,  Father Edward J. Flanagan, who established a home for underprivileged and delinquent boys.

Mickey Rooney’s role of the wild and lost kid who bordered on the edge,  became a classic in itself.

Although the story is mostly fiction, there was and is a “Boys Town” near Omaha, Nebraska….and there was a real Father Flanagan.

Show time is 7 .p.m, and admission is by requested donation. Dollar concessions are available, and lighted lot parking is just steps away from the front door. This is a family event. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

All event proceeds benefit the all volunteer on-going restoration project of the Liberty, which is now a National Historic Site.
