Southern Illinois leaders gather to discuss healthier workplaces | Business
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - It's safe to say that vending machines don't always have the healthiest options from which to choose at work.
That's why a group of 150 leaders from southern Illinois have gathers to learn about ways to make their workplace a healthier one.
They bounced ideas off each other about staying active and presented projects already underway at other businesses.
"Helping individuals make health choices but providing them environments in which they can make those healthy choices," said Miriam Link-Mullison with the Jackson County Health Department. "So we were just hearing from two work sites that have done on work site wellness on their individual sites. They're providing fresh fruits for their employees and water for their employees to drink and they're giving them incentives for making good health choices."
The event was so popular among businesses in Illinois, organizers said there were turning people away.
