LGBT Pride Picnic scheduled | Community Spirit
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The third annual Community Pride Picnic will take place in Carbondale on Sunday, September 25th.
The picnic, hosted at Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, is to celebrate the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community and its allies.
The family friendly event runs from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and will include games, face painting, music, a silent auction, and prize give aways. There will also be food for sale.
If it rains on September 25th, the event will be moved to Sunday, October 9th.
Church of the Good Shepherd is an “Open and Affirming” church. The congregation welcomes and affirms people of all races, genders, ages, sexual orientations, nationalities, ethnicities, economic classes, family configurations, and physical and psychological abilities.
The church says they partner with others to achieve equal rights for all persons in all areas of our nation and world and to free all persons from discrimination, harassment, and violence.
The church offers pre-union counseling and civil commitment ceremonies.
