Lawmakers to host annual senior fair | Community Spirit

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - All senior citizens in the Carbondale area are invited to the annual Senior Fair at the Carbondale Civic Center on August 1 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The fair, hosted by State Senator Dave Luechtefeld, State Representative Mike Bost and Carbondale Mayor Joel Fritzel, will offer information and demonstrations for important quality-of-life issues that impact senior citizens.
Attendees will have the opportunity to take blood pressure tests, pulse oxymetry tests, bone density and body mass index screenings along with wellness screenings that include a trigger point message. There will also be an opportunity for blood sugar screenings however a morning fast is recommended for that test. All tests will be provided by local health care organizations.
Government agencies will also be on hand providing information on prescription and insurance programs, veterans' benefits, amplified telephones among many other types of programs and products. In addition, the Illinois Treasurer's Office will have their I-Cash database available for interested residents to look for unclaimed checks or property. Also participating will be the Illinois Secretary of State's Mobile Driver's License facility providing license renewals, vehicle stickers and free state IDs to seniors 65 and older.
Free refreshments and door prizes will also be available.
