Pride Picnic: Carbondale church celebrates diversity | Community Spirit

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Church of the Good Shepherd in Carbondale will hold their annual Pride Picnic Sunday, September 23 on church grounds.

The church says the picnic is meant to be an open and affirming event that brings together and celebrates individuals and families in the spirit of diversity. The day will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with an open and affirming worship service. The picnic portion will last from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and includes kids' activities.

According to the church, the event will also be an opportunity to give back to the community, as donations will be accepted all day for the Carbondale Good Samaritan Food Pantry.

Church of the Good Shepherd is located at 515 South Orchard Drive in Carbondale. In the event of rain, the Pride Picnic will move indoors.
