MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - Murphysboro Tourism Commission has officially gone live with their new site to make a simple and understandable place where visitors and prospective tourists can find out what is happening, places to visit or they can book a stay.
In addition to the new website, visitmurphysboro.com, the Tourism Commission has a new Facebook and Twitter page that mirrors the look of the new website. The commission members are hoping that this new effort will give local Southern Illinois residents a single location where they can find out what is going on in Murphysboro and then be able to Tweet or post in Facebook their experiences. It will also be an easy way for local businesses and event coordinators to reach out to a market of travelers looking for fun adventures in Jackson County and keep the Tourism Commission up to date on event and activities.
President of the Tourism Commission Mike Jones is happy with the new look and the early response.
“Visitmurphysboro.com and our Facebook and Twitter pages have been in the test phase for about a week and we are already seeing dozens of visitors from the local area as well as around the United States.” Jones said.
In the past week the site has had visitors from South Carolina to Colorado.
The site has four tabs that include:
- “Visit Us” – A general overview of Murphysboro and the area
- “Book Your Stay” – An area that has links to the hotels, bed and breakfasts, inns and cabins,
- “Things to Do” - A list of upcoming events in Jackson County
- “Places to See” – All of the locations that make Murphysboro unique and worth a visit
Each of the tabs is keeping with the idea that people want simple easy to navigate websites.
