Carbondale receives Department of Justice grant | Community Spirit
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - U.S. Congressman Bill Enyart announced Monday that the City of Carbondale has been approved for a $18,452 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows local units of government to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own needs and conditions.
Funds from this award will be used to purchase equipment and supplies for the Carbondale Police Department, Operations Division, Special Response Team and Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit. Funds will also be used to acquire computer hardware and software for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
