Ga. woman arrested after police say she was involved in a hit and run | Crime
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A Georgia woman was arrested after Carbondale police say she hit a person crossing North Marion Street around 3:08 p.m. Monday, September 16.
Aviance E. Bryant, of Jonesboro, Georgia, was charged with driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and aggravated battery.
According to Carbondale police, they responded to the 800 block of North Marion Street in reference to a hit and run crash. They say they learned the victim was crossing North Marion Street and was hit by the suspect vehicle, which was going south, and left the scene of the crash without stopping.
The suspect vehicle was described as a white, 2013 Dodge Challenger. Police say it was found a short time later by officers, being driven by Bryant.
According to police, Bryant and the victim were acquaintances and have been involved in previous incidents.
Bryant was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
