Murphysboro woman facing DUI, traffic charges after leading police on chase

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - A Murphysboro woman was arrested Wednesday morning after refusing to stop for police, leading them on a chase.

Julianna Brown, 23 of Murphysboro, was charged with two outstanding Jackson County warrants, driving under the influence and other traffic charges. She was taken to the Jackson County Jail pending bond or a court appearance.

On Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 a.m. deputies tried to stop Brown west of Murphysboro. They say her vehicle had been reported by other drivers as having a possibly impaired driver.

According to police she refused to stop for them and they followed the vehicle as it entered the west side of Murphsyboro due to safety concerns. Once the vehicle entered the west Walnut Street, officers say the saw it continue east on Walnut Street. When the vehicle reached the area of Walnut and 16th Streets, deputies say an officer tried to stop it. They say the vehicle tried to avoid the officer and it was forced off the road.
