Police: 15 vehicle burglaries reported in Murphsyboro

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -  The Murphysboro Police Department is currently investigating a series of vehicle burglaries.

The burglaries happened in the early morning hours Monday, March 4 in the location of North 9th, 10th and 11th Streets, north of Illinois Avenue. One of those residents is Kim Ruble.

"I know I'm not going to get my car stereo back but as long as they catch that person, I'll be happy," Ruble said.

Ruble describes the area that was hit as quiet.

"We don't need this," Ruble said. "It's quiet and we like it that way."

Police say reports began coming in shortly after midnight involving at least 15 motor vehicles that had been entered and items of value had been removed.

They say loose property, radios, and other items of value had reportedly been stolen.

All of the vehicles were reported as not having been locked.

Anyone that may have seen anything suspicious in the area is encouraged to contact the Murphysboro Police Department.

Persons are asked to remove items of value from vehicles and to lock their vehicles at all times.
