2 Murphysboro residents arrested in connection with 56 auto burglaries

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office arrested two Murphysboro residents March 11 in connection with 56 area auto burglaries.

David Salazar, 19, and Carmon Joe Faries, 20, both from Murphysboro, were charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.

According to officers, the burglaries happened between mid-January and the first week of March 2013 in and around Murphysboro and Carbondale. Investigators recovered a large amount of stolen property from a home on New Era Road in Murphysboro.

Deputies say residents who believe they were the victims of an auto burglary but may not have reported the crime are asked to contact law enforcement  and make a report.

This joint investigation is being conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Carbondale and Murphysboro Police Departments. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are possible.
