5 arrested after attempted murder investigation in Carbondale | Crime
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Carbondale police arrested five in connection with an attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon investigation.
Anthony V. Bailey, 24, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
Andre T. Bailey, 27, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.
Jeremy C. Clark, 30, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated fleeing to elude.
Nashika Bradsfield, 25, and Desmine Schauf, 25, were charged with aggravated battery and mob action.
On July 14, around 1:50 a.m. police officers on foot patrol say they heard a single gunshot near a vehicle in the 600 block of East Grand Avenue. They say they determined one of the people in the car had fired a gun at a pedestrian in the area.
According to police, the vehicle left the scene and was stopped by them not far away. During the investigation, they determined this incident is related to an ongoing feud between Andre T. Bailey and the victim, they say the two are acquaintances. Police say the victim was not injured during this incident.
Anthony Bailey was charged after police learned he tried to engage the victim in a fight. They say he posted bond and was released to appear in Jackson County Court.
The other four were incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail.
Andre Bailey, Jeremy Clark were occupants in the car, and were arrested and charged.
Nashika Bradsfield and Desmine Schauf were arrested and charged after police say they beat up a person at the scene who they believed to be involved in the shooting incident.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
