CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS)- Two Southern Illinois University basketball players have pending charges for misdemeanor theft of a bicycle.
SIU men's basketball head coach Barry Hinson announced Friday that junior guards Desmar Jackson and Diamond Taylor have the pending charges.
Jackson is also facing charges related to two minor traffic violations.
Hinson said disciplinary measures would be handled internally.
"I'm extremely disappointed in these two young men," Hinson said in a press release by SIU. "Part of my job as a coach is to teach our players the necessary life skills to become successful members of society. They must learn from their mistakes and be held accountable."
Jackson sat out the 2011-12 season after transferring from Wyoming. He led the Cowboys in scoring as a sophomore in 2011 with 14.6 points per game and ranked fifth in the Mountain West Conference. Taylor has played in 46 games in two years at Southern, making 16 starts. He averaged 4.3 points last season.
