Carbondale man finds his campaign signs burned in yard | News
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A Carbondale man woke up Saturday morning and found his political campaign signs burned in his front yard.
Andrew Purcell had three campaign signs set up in different places on his yard. He says the campaign signs promoting Mitt Romney, Jason Plummer and Dave Luecktefeld were torn from his yard and placed in a pile near his front door, which is close to some bushes as well.
He believes they were burned some time Friday night.
Purcell says he will pursue charges on the person or persons responsible.
Republican candidate for U.S. Representative from the 12th Congressional District of Illinois, Jason Plummer, released this statement on the burned campaign signs:
"The Purcell family has a right to exercise their free speech by placing signs in their yard to support the candidates of their choice. This vandalism is not only disrespectful, but destructive, possibly dangerous and distracts from finding solutions to the serious obstacles facing struggling families in Southern Illinois."
