1 arrested after early morning shooting in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS)- Police say one person was arrested, and one wounded, after an early morning shooting in Carbondale.

Michael L. Brown, 30, from Dyersburg, Tenn. was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

It happened around 3 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of East Grand Avenue.

Carbondale, Illinois police say they were called to the scene for a reported disturbance, and found the victim of a single gunshot wound.

According to Sgt. David Kemp, the victim was taken to the Carbondale Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

During the course of the investigation, officers identified Brown as the suspect and arrested him in the area of the shooting.

An investigation is continuing.
