Gorham man injured in nearly head-on crash

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - An 86-year-old Gorham man was injured in a nearly head-on collision with a semi tractor-trailer.

Murphysboro Police say Floyd Morgan was driving westbound on Walnut Street (Highway 149) Tuesday around 1:41 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a semi truck nearly head-on.

The semi tractor-trailer was operated by CIMCO Recycling of Carbondale.

Morgan had to be cut from the vehicle. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Murphsyboro. HIs status was unknown, according to Murphysboro Police.

Murphysboro Fire, Jackson County Ambulance, and Illinois State Police assisted Murphysboro Police.

The highway was shut down for about two hours while the crash site was being cleared.

Police say citations may be pending.
