CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS)- Today's cold weather didn't stop students on SIU's campus from celebrating Martin Luther King Day.
Students belonging to several different fraternities came together and marched around campus in honor of MLK Jr.
Members call it a way to get a little inspiration from him as well as to honor what he stood for.
"Be a leader, that's what Dr. Martin Luther King was a leader and he changed the united states. and silence is never good, you need to speak out when there is any issue and if there is a problem, speak out against it and stand for what's right," said Corbin Doss, an SIU student and member of Alpha Phi Alpha.
Something you might not know about Martin Luther King Jr., he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, one of the fraternities that participated in today's event.
