Summer energy assistance available to eligible homes | News
(KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Office of Energy Assistance has released a limited amount of funds to Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council to help households with elderly, disabled and children under the age of 5 years old in the counties of Jackson, Monroe, Perry and Randolph.
Households that contain a member with asthma, emphysema, coronary disease or a terminal illness who can be eased by air conditioning may also apply but must have a current medical form from the doctor to verify the condition.
A $150 benefit will be paid directly to the electric provider. Reconnection services will not be a part of the program. The program begins July 15 and ends July 26. Percentage of Income Payment Program participants will not be eligible for the summer energy assistance program.
All applications will be by appointment only beginning July 15. Appointments can be made by calling or visiting the Western Egyptian Outreach Offices in Jackson, 684-3341, Monroe, 939-8715, Perry, 542-4656, and Randolph, 443-5231.
