2 injured in crash with box truck, pickup | News
MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS)- Two people were injured in a crash on Route 127 in Jackson County on Monday.
Gregory S. McCloughan, 42, of Springfield, Illinois was driving a box truck with a heavy equipment trailer southbound on Route 127 when he came upon a slow moving farm tractor pulling an enclosed trailer, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
This happened south of Route 4 in rural Murphysboro.
McMcCloughanould not slow down and swerved into the northbound lane of Route 127.
He hit a blue Ford Ranger driven by Rhonda Miller, 39, of Decatur, Illinois.
The Ranger landed on top of a guardrail on the east side of the road.
Miller and her passenger Sally Peterson, 43, were injured and taken to a local hospital.
The truck and trailer remained in the road for about two hours.
The Illinois State Police, the Murphysboro Pomona Somerset Fire Department, Illinois Department of Transportation responded to the call.
McCloughan was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Miller was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
