Photo Gallery | SLIDESHOW: B29 at Southern Illinois Airport on Mon.

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Viewer Lewis Short sent us some pictures of the B29 Flying Fortress nicknamed FiFi, flown by a former Aviation Student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on Monday, July 18.

There was also a P51 Fighter plane and an old World War II Army Jeep at the airport as well. He says it looked like a couple of hundred folks visiting the airport to get a glimpse at the last flying fortress. A major part of World War II history as far as planes in the US Army Air Corp now known as the US Air Force.

One of our Heartland News photographers was also at the airport for the event and snapped some pictures of the planes.
